A query is a VIP Workshop part you use to ask a question of your data or to perform an action on your data. You can use a query to sort or filter your data; view data from many tables at the same time; bring data together from more than one table to use as the source for a form; or quickly append, update, or delete data in tables. In VIP Workshop, you can create the following types of queries:
·Select queries - ask a question of the data stored in tables; the result displays in a separate window without changing the original data.
·Action queries - ask a question of the data in order to change or copy it; you can create Delete, Append, and Update queries.
·English queries - ask a question of the data in plain English.
·SQL queries - ask a question of the data using a SQL statement.
In VIP Workshop, you can query your data in a manner you are most familiar with: either graphically in the QBE, or in English or SQL (Structured Query Language) in the QBS.
